"Christmas Wishlist" by Princess Destiny

https://www.fanfiction.net/s/2872533/1/Christmas-WishList

I think this fanfic may be burdened by its less than stellar synopsis. Mamoru figures out Usagi's identity using his smarts and tries to manipulate the information out of her, while the girls try to convince him he has got it all wrong. One of my favs.

"Seven Days" and "Two More Weeks" by cattykitty

https://www.fanfiction.net/s/8101639/1/Seven-Days
https://www.fanfiction.net/s/8796557/1/Two-More-Weeks

This is probably the most "realistic" Sailor Moon fanfic series out there. It's told from the points-of-view of Mamoru, Usagi, and Motoki in turn. Mamoru and Motoki are crass and misogynistic when together. It's a coming-of-age story that's all about the complicated relationship Usagi and Mamoru share, and how they need to balance their mutual disdain and mutual attraction. Not to mention Mamoru is pretty much destined to be the ruler of Earth and all that, but I imagine that comes into play later.

There's an AU aspect to this in the sense that Mina has changed some things that were not changed before. And Luna is conspicuously absent throughout a lot of the story.

I love how dark this series is. I wouldn't classify it as a romance, but I imagine it could get there. Unfortunately, the series hasn't been updated in a while, and I fear it may never be concluded. The writer ended on a bit of a cliffhanger, so I would wager she's a bit torn about where to take the story from there.

But this is probably my SECOND favorite Sailor Moon series out there. It's very sexual (Mamoru is portrayed as the erstwhile playboy, natch), and definitely not "politically correct," but there's something so beautiful about the way the story unfolds. It won't give you feels, but it will make you think.

In fact, I  think about this fic a lot - in the beginning Mamoru seems beyond redemption, but it almost seems like he's the one reaching a light at the end of the tunnel, and Motoki, at the beginning the brighter of the two, seems to be the one who's falling more and more into depravity. Really good story. It's a story as much about their friendship as it is about Mamoru and Usagi fucking. And of course they decide to start fucking, like that never complicates things. Like I said, not romantic in the traditional sense, but so unique.

If I were to continue a story, I definitely think it would be this one, if only for my own amusement. I've mapped out the days and plot, cattykitty. I could do it. Don't tempt me.

"Leather and Lockets" by JadeEye

https://www.fanfiction.net/s/4636576/1/Leather-and-Lockets

Sorry I have been on a Sailor Moon kick lately. I just like reading good fanfiction, and I have been so blah lately, and Sailor Moon is a fandom where I like romance. I just can't help it. It's a whole damn show about the power of love, leaave me alone!

AU. Serena/Darien. He's in a gang, and she's a troubled high school cheerleader. Love.

Really well-written, imo.

"Hands Fall Together" by Kihin Ranno

https://www.fanfiction.net/s/2089055/1/Hands-Fall-Together

Why is this fic not finished? :( I imagine there's still a lot to go, but goodness I need some kind of closure.

Sailor Moon AU: Luna finds Mamoru and becomes his guardian.

It's the best kind of AU, where canon is at the heart of the story. This is how Sailor Moon would go if the main character was Tuxedo Kamen.

Luna and Mamoru don't particularly get along (in fact, Mamoru tends to do the opposite of Luna's wishes), and Mamoru's powers are too weak to do anything and everybody pretty much makes fun of him. But it also turns out his most powerful weapon in battle is self-sacrifice. He will take a bullet (or energy ball) for anyone... even if they don't need it. He's also so, so wonderfully sarcastic.

Additionally, Amy and Mamoru form a great team. (The scenes between the two of them are easily my favorite; no romance there because they are both too analytical to even consider it, but that's what makes their companionship so unique.)

On the other hand, true to canon, Mamoru's life is pretty depressing and empty. He doesn't tell the scouts about the Princess dreams because of course he wouldn't. And his interactions with Usagi are limited (she is only in a few chapters), but let's just say there's more to his annoyance with her than the anime lets on.

And this isn't a spoiler, but why can't Usagi just figure out who he is, like, for real? Motoki's close to figuring him out, though, and I can't wait for that shoe to drop.

Anyway, I will end here. Great story. Rei's written perfectly in-character as well. (Particularly amusing is her infatuation with Mamoru and his complete obliviousness to it.)

The nice thing about having Mamoru, Ami and Rei work together is they are all from broken families. It adds a gravity to their superhero-dom. They're teeenagers who don't have much else.

We haven't officially met Jupiter yet, but her time must be coming if this is ever finished.......

This is one of my favorite SM stories EVER. Do you love the beginning of the show but just wish it was written kind of different? Then read this. And tell this girl to finish it. Or I will, I guess.

Read the story then respond to my queries in the spoiler.

Sailor Moon?!? What?!? "Don't Stand So Close" by Final Saturn

Almost five years to the day since I posted my last fic. I still read Fanfiction but not as much as I used to. Most people may be surprised to find I am a literary snob irl, but it's all true.

That said, I am sucker for Mamoru/Usagi from Sailor Moon, specifically the early stories (from original anime) that are full of fluffy goodness. It is my mindless drivel and I love it.

In this story Mamoru is Usagi's substitute teacher. Zaniness ensues.

"Mrs Figg and the Basilisk" by poosandwichesarecool123HP

Oh, you.

Writing Suggestions from Yours Truly, Number Five

If you're going to write a slash fic, maybe you should ask yourself if the way you're validating your pairing is by demonizing a female character. There's already enough rampant misogyny in the world as it is; the last thing we need is to tear each other down as well.
